Bloodborne The Old Hunters DLC Launching This Fall

Bloodborne fans will finally be getting that DLC they’ve been clamoring for, as FromSoftware announces the launch of The Old Hunters later this year. The core game will also get an updated release this fall with the new DLC baked in.

Praise the sun and fear the old blood, it’s nearly time to jump back into Bloodborne and experience some brand new adventures in one of the most difficult and rewarding games to hit the scene in 2015. According to a recent announcement from Tokyo Game Show and the PlayStation Blog, we can look forward to meeting The Old Hunters come Nov. 24 for $19.99.

I imagine quite a few masochists in the audience are already throwing money at their monitors but, sadly, we’ve still got two months to wait before this new story, revamped battles and additional gear will infect Bloodborne.

The above trailer was first shown off this morning during Tokyo Game Show, with a Japanese launch date for The Old Hunters announced for Nov. 24. A few hours later, the US PlayStation Blog confirmed that local gamers will receive the content on the same date. According to the announcement, this DLC will allow players to “experience the nightmare of the hunters who once guarded Byrgenwerth’s darkest secrets.” Yep, that definitely sounds like some sweet, sweet new Bloodborne goodness.

Set in a nightmare world where hunters from the past are trapped forever, explore brand new stages full of dangers, rewards, and deadly beasts to overcome. You’ll find multiple new outfits and weapons to add to your arsenal as well as additional magic to wield and add more variety to your combat strategy.

Some of that new content can be seen in the trailer, including revamped boss fights from the original Bloodborne, new areas to explore and a few new spells and weapons. One of the spells looks like it sends the hunter into beast mode while the new weapons include Simon’s Bowblade and another contraption that looks like it shifts from a sword to a giant club with a spinning saw at the end…Because Bloodborne.

There’s also at least one new boss fight with a creature called Ludwig. Considering the fact that one of the best weapons in the game is called Ludwig’s Holy Blade, this leads me to believe that our boy Luddy maybe suffered a terrible fate.

If, however, you’ve never played Bloodborne, you might actually be best served to keep on waiting. A relaunch of the game will arrive the same time as The Old Hunters, and it’ll include everything from the core game, as well as the new content, on a single disc.
