Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Release Dates Announced

With the holiday season just around the corner, Nintendo hopes to capture your fancy with official release dates for a couple of the publishing giant's upcoming titles, including The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, the latest Wii Fit, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and the latest Mario Party game for the 3DS, now known as Island Tour.

It's been an awfully busy day for Nintendo news as the Big N has announced both a new Wii U Deluxe bundle including a $2.99 price point and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD and a brand new (sort of) handheld called the Nintendo 2DS.

As we reported earlier, that means that the uuber Wii U package is dropping in price by 50 bucks come Sept. 20, the same day that special Wind Waker bundle hits. If you've been thinking about getting a Wii U and were just about ready to take the plunge, maybe wait one more month ans save yourself a few dollars, yeah?

As for the 2DS, where do you even begin with that thing, right? Say what you will about the design, I can at least appreciate that there is, in fact, a market for such a thing. Some people just aren't into 3D or, for parents with younger kids, I can imagine that the fear of eye strain is pretty great. The 2DS will allow everyone to play 3DS and regular DS games without that extra trickery being done on the peepers, plus, it's being sold at $40 cheaper than the standard 3DS model for just $129.99.

“Nintendo has one of the strongest and most diverse video game lineups in our history,” said Nintendo's Fils-Aime. “Today we're making those unique Nintendo experiences more accessible and affordable. However you play and whatever you play, Nintendo has you covered.”

And what about that “game lineup?” Well, a few upcoming titles have no been given proper release dates via press release. Wii Party U is headed our way Oct. 25 for a suggested retail price of $49.99 with Super Mario 3D World launching on Nov. 22 for $59.99. Not to confuse you, but Super Mario 3D World isn't coming to the 3DS or the 2DS, but rather the Wii U.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze will be here in time for Christmas, launching Dec. 6 for 50 bucks. Wii Fit U still only has a “holiday season” launch window, same as Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Over on the 3DS, and 2DS, I suppose, A Link Between Worlds will finally arrive on Nov. 22, just in time for the holiday shopping frenzy. Mario Party: Island Tour will be available on the same day, both going for $39.99 a pop.
