PlayStation Vita Launch Day Bundle Announced

Sony will be rewarding those of you who buy their PlayStation Vita handheld on launch day or soon afterward. They'll be releasing a limited edition Vita bundle to stores filled with several extras for no additional charge.

The $299 Launch Day bundle includes a PS Vita with 3G/WiFi, an 8GB memory card, an AT&T DataConnect Pass and a PlayStation Network game. Supplies will be limited so if you're interested in buying it, reserving one in advance would be a good idea. There's no bundle for the WiFi-only model of Vita.

"While the system is a fantastic option, the addition of 3G-network access is perfect for the gamer that wants convenience, community and connection – basically the ability to immediately socialize with your gaming community," said Sony director of hardware marketing John Koller on the PlayStation.Blog. "3G also allows you to engage in multi-player gaming, utilize GPS location-based digital gifting, stay up to date with continuous LiveArea scores and game ranking news feeds, compete for in-game achievements, engage in PS Vita to PS3 cross-platform game play, cross-game message with Party, and have access to software updates, all while on the go. You’ll also be able to login to the PS Store and download new content and add-ons for some of your favorite titles."

Sony previously announced a "First Edition Bundle" that will be available a week before the Vita officially launches. The U.S. version includes the PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi model, a limited edition case, 4GB PS Vita Memory Card, and a copy of Little Deviants. The Canadian version has the same extras but a Wi-Fi-only Vita. Today Sony revealed that they're adding two more extras to this bundle: an AT&T DataConnect Pass for one free 250MB session and a PSN game. Both extras will be provided when you activate the handheld's 3G.

The Vita, successor to the PlayStation Portable, will launch on February 22nd.
