Steam users have two free games to choose from this weekend. Saints Row: The Third and Civilization V are both free to download and play until Sunday afternoon.
Saints Row 3 is an open-world action game. Players take on the leader of Third Street Saints, a street gang that has become pop culture icons due to their exploits. Their fame attracts the attention of the Syndicate, an international crime organization that wants to take over their businesses. The Saints take the fight to the Syndicate in the new city of Steelport.
Civilization V allows players to guide a civilization from the stone age to the space age. They'll have to build up their nation, research new technologies, and deal with other civilizations peacefully or with force. The game can be won in several different ways, depending on your playstyle. For example, you can convince other civilizations to appoint you as global leader or wipe them all off the face of the Earth.
The free play weekend for each game will end on Sunday at 1pm PST. If you decide to buy either game at the end of the week, you can do so at a 75% discount. The discount will be available until Monday at 10am PST.
Big things are in store for both the Civilization and Saints Row franchises. Saints Row 4 is coming out at the end of the summer. Civilization V's second expansion pack, Brave New World, will launch in July. Both of these upcoming games have exclusive pre-purchase deals running on Steam. Saints Row 4 pre-purchasers will get three bonus TF2 costumes, along with a 10% discount if you own SR3. Brave New World is marked down 10% for pre-purchase.
