Street Fighter Alpha 2 On Wii U Today, 3DS Gets Mega Man 5

I regret to inform you that Mario Kart 8 still isn’t here yet. But, in its absence, Nintendo is rolling out a handful of new games for folks to enjoy on the Wii U and 3DS this week, including a couple of beloved classics like Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Mega Man V.

I don’t mean to overlook the eShop here but, for the past several weeks, it’s been all about the Virtual Console on Nintendo devices. This week, that trend stays intact for both the Wii U and 3DS with a pair of top-notch oldies that are still goodies.

On the Wii U, fighting fans will finally be able to sink their teeth into Street Fighter Alpha 2, one of the most celebrated entries in the long-running series.

“Quick Move Reversals, Alpha Counters and the incredible Custom Combo System created a standard or all games to fight by,” reads the official release announcement from Nintendo. “Neutralize opponents’ attacks with high and low Alpha Counter and execute incredible Custom Combos to create a rapid-fire assault of attacks.”

The game also boasts a large roster of pugilists for players to take control of, including formerly hidden characters Dan, Akuma and Bison, and newcomers Rolento, Gen and Sakura.

Over on the 3DS, Mega May comes to a close with yet another game staring the Blue Bomber, Mega Man V. Once again, this is a game series that requires little introduction or description. Mega Man is called on once again to save the day, this time battling through armies of robot enemies to help overthrow an alien invasion.

Over to the eShop and the Wii U is set to receive a few titles this week, including Fit Music, Swords & Soldiers and Squids Odyssey. Swords & Soldiers should perk up a few ears, as it’s won over many-a fan on other platforms over the years with its unique blend of action-strategy and army control.

The 3DS is also getting a trio of smaller new games on the eShop, including Alien on the Run, Turtle Tale and Lost Treasures of Alexandria.

As is becoming a more common practice on Nintendo platforms, there are also a handful of sales going on this week. The Wii U’s sole discount is coming to Blok Drop U, which will be marked down by 25 percent between now and June 4.

The 3DS savings begin with AeternoBlade, which will go on sale for just a limited time, between now and May 26. Joindots will also continue to discount several of its games through June 5, alongside Classic Games Overload and Darts Up 3D.
