Before the year even started, I was impressed to see that Anne Hathaway is the lead of five 2026 movie releases. And then, she also announced she’s pregnant with her third child in June. So, the Oscar winner is really doing it all this year, but right now I want to talk about her maternity-forward fashion.
Anne Hathaway Is Making Her Baby Bump Part Of Her Press Tour Fashion
We’ve seen a lot of press looks from Anne Hathaway this year. But I’m particularly loving how she’s showing off her baby bump while she promotes her Steven Spielberg-inspired horror movie, The End of Oak Street. Check out her most recent fashion moment for Jimmy Kimmel Live!
It’s a simple fit, but she looks fantastic. Hathaway is wearing a flowy black top that opens up at her belly, black slacks and gold accent jewelry. It’s the second time this week she has flaunted her baby bump for a press event, and I think it’s really refreshing to see her showing it off.
For one, The Devil Wears Prada star is pregnant at 43 – which, as she spoke to recently, is not typically an easy road. Her body is literally growing a new human right now, and her making that very obvious in her fashion is empowering for other women to see. It feels like anything other than small-waisted in the belly section is applauded on red carpets. So, it feels beautifully defiant for Hathaway to do this. I wish it wasn’t.
Why Did Some People Think It Was A ‘Fake’ Bump?
My point was sadly made for me when Hathaway stepped out for a previous The End Of Oak Street event in Los Angeles over the weekend. Immediately after photos and videos started coming out of her strutting on a carpet in another baby-bump bearing ensemble, people started calling her belly “fake”. It apparently got to her, because she commented on this post:

- "I’m sorry but that looks fake"
- "That’s so fake!!! 😭"
- "I don’t like that."
- "it doesnt even look real"
Can you even believe this? Why on Earth would Anne Hathaway wear a fake bump and pretend she was pregnant? However, I was happy to see numerous women coming to her defense as well in the same TikTok with comments like this:
- "That’s a baby bump with abs!!!! ❤️❤️❤️💪💪"
- "It’s looks different because she was already fit and probably continues to work out so she is all muscle and baby!!"
- "People that are saying it looks fake, I think it’s because she ultra fit, my dancer friend belly looked exactly the same."
- "I didn’t know pregnant stomachs was even a debate…. Wth is wrong with society… not all stomachs look the same tf….."
- "People judge pregnant women for gaining too much weight, then judge them when they’re all belly. Every woman carries differently. For God’s sake, stop judging a woman’s body while she’s literally creating a life."
If more people were exposed to what pregnant bellies really look like, perhaps this kind of reaction might not occur? This whole thing is also a troubling reminder of how people often think they have the right to comment on what’s “right” and “wrong” about women’s bodies. Why can’t we just embrace them for how unique each one is, rather than jumping to outlandish conclusions?
