Abrams Keeps Secrets Tight

It appears J.J. Abrams is not going to stray from his typical standard of complete secrecy about projects his Bad Robot label is producing. While the press is starting to clue in to when Bad Robot and partner studio Paramount are putting something together, there is still a shroud over whatever that “something” is.

The latest project has been reported by Variety as a supernatural thriller that Josh Marston (Maria Full of Grace) pitched to Bad Robot and would write and direct. Other than that, details are sparse.

What really blows my mind is that the Variety article announced that through this secrecy, Bad Robot has set up at least seven projects, including the much talked about “Cloverfield” project. Seven? How on earth is Abrams pulling this many projects through without the Internet going wild about them? Is he only hiring people he absolutely trusts? Is most of Paramount’s staff in the dark about what’s going on so they don’t leak information?

Regardless of his methods, chalk another victory up for Bad Robot’s veil of secrecy. We have a writer/director name, and a genre, and that’s it.
