Alternate Cloverfield Poster?

Another version of the new poster for J.J. Abrams’s “Cloverfield” has appeared online. Like the mysterious version that showed up last week, before the official one sheet was revealed by Paramount at Comic Con, this version bears a word on the poster: “terrifying”. That adjective is the only difference between the current poster and the one Bloody Disgusting is carrying. The poster last week used the descriptor “Monstrous,” leading people to believe that was the title of the as-yet-unnamed film.

It seems to me this whole descriptor thing might be a little unreliable. The official poster released by Paramount has no word on it at all, yet two have now shown up online with descriptions. Wouldn’t it be simple to convincingly Photoshop words onto the blank space of this poster? Actually, that sounds like a Photoshop contest in the making. This new “Terrifying” poster also contains Paramount and Bad Robot logos that aren’t on the original sent by the studio.

With so much hype surrounding the movie online, I think I’ll stick with materials officially released by the studio or found on sites known to be associated with the movie (did you know that a fifth photo has shown up on www.1-18-08.com or that the pictures there can be flipped over?). That seems to be the “safe” way to keep from getting conned.
