Aronofsky gets LOST

”It was one of those fantastic calls out of the blue. His agents let us know he liked the show, and we jumped at the opportunity.” And so, one of the big screens biggest surreal directors will be making the leap to the small screen for one episode of television’s hottest shows: “LOST”. Darren Aronofsky, director of Pi, Requiem For A Dream, and the upcoming The Fountain has signed on to direct an episode of "LOST", reports Entertainment Weekly. Like the rest of us, the director has become a bit obsessed with the show. Adds “LOST” Executive Director, Carlton Cuse "Apparently, he had been watching Lost while up in Montreal shooting The Fountain and got hooked.” Yeah, who of us haven’t? But I’m not getting the opportunity to direct an episode!

I blame Quentin Tarantino for this, who in the past few years has directed episodes of “CSI”, “ER”, and even an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live”. By making the leap from big screen to small screen, Tarantino has hopefully paved the way for other directors like Aronofsky.

What I want to know though, is does this mean Aronofsky will get some inside knowledge to what the hell everything means on the show? Will he get any insight to the big picture that fans only see a glimpse of each week, or will they keep him in the dark as well, only giving him information about the episode he’s directing? Either way, the result is sure to be a treat for fans, as Cuse indicates, "...we will try to put together a story that will be well-suited for Darren’s talents and visual imagination."
