Aaron Paul has been doing his very best to capitalize on all of the success that has come from the award-winning hit Breaking Bad, and as a result we will be seeing plenty of him on the big screen soon. Today we add yet another title to his "Upcoming" pile. According to Variety, the Emmy-winning actor has now signed a deal to come aboard Fathers & Daughters, a new drama that already has Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried.
Based on a script by Brad Desch that was previously featured on the Black List (the annual list of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood), the film tells a story set in two time periods 25 years apart. The trade says that Crowe will play "a famous novelist and widower struggling with mental illness as he tries to raise his 5-year-old daughter." Seyfried, meanwhile, will play that same daughter all grown up and trying to live with haunted memories.
While the report doesn't go into any specifics, Paul is apparently going to play Seyfried's love interest. As the trade points out, this is familiar territory for both of the young actors, as they previously played a couple on the HBO series Big Love:
Gabriele Muccino is directing Fathers & Daughters, but at this stage it's unclear exactly when they will be starting production. The filmmaker is best known for his work with Will Smith, making both 2006's The Pursuit of Happyness and 2008's Seven Pounds. His last film was the Gerard Butler soccer-themed romantic comedy Playing For Keeps, which came out last year.
With his schedule no longer packed with Breaking Bad shooting, Paul has kept busy making features this past year. He's already completed both the Nick Hornby adaptation A Long Way Down and the Kat Candler drama Hellion, both of which are expected out next year but don't yet have an official release date. The actor is currently filming Exodus, the biblical epic directed by Ridley Scott that co-stars Christian Bale, Sigourney Weaver, Sir Ben Kingsley, Joel Edgerton and more. His first big post-Breaking Bad starring role, however, will be in Scott Waugh's Need For Speed adaptation, which you can get a glimpse at in the trailer below:
