Cameron Diaz Made A 'Sex Tape' And We Have Your First Look
Thank you, Jake Kasdan, for releasing a mainstream comedy titled Sex Tape. Because now, when I Google search for information on your upcoming release, I get a blats of NSFW imagery – most containing Kim Kardashian – before I’m able to dig up an image with your actual stars, Cameron Diaz and Jason Segal. How many times are you going to make me delete by browser’s history before this comedy comes out?
I get what Kasdan’s going for here. All three previously collaborated on the 2011 hit Bad Teacher, which tapped into Diaz’s rarely-seen foul side and unearthed $216 million in worldwide ticket sales. While they reportedly are circling a Bad Teacher sequel, Kasdan first will make Diaz and Segal jump through some uncomfortably awkward hoops as a couple in love who encounter a serious problem.
The two are going to make a sex tape, one – according to the image above, shared via Slash Film – that will involve Diaz’s character doing her best Roller Girl impersonation from Boogie Nights. Segal’s face looks disturbingly creepy, as if he has captured Diaz and his holding her in his grandmother’s bedroom, a la Prisoners. I can’t stop paying attention to the production choices in this photo. Where are they? In a camper? It looks like an unusually cramped space, with dated curtains and knick-knacks cluttering the background. Sorry. We’re supposed to be ogling Diaz and his skates… but what is the deal with that tiny bookshelf?
Kate Angelo writes Sex Tape, and the comedy likely will get very unsexy right after this scene. The story follows a couple who makes the tape in question to spice up their relationship, then spends the rest of the movie trying to locate the movie once it goes missing. Maybe they are terrible in the movie? I wonder. I mean, if you are going to make a racy tape, invite friends and family over to watch it! Otherwise, what’s the point?
Sex Tape moved its release date recently, and now will open in theaters on July 25. Sony gave us this synopsis. Are you interested in checking out this Bad Teacher reunion?
