All it takes to make it in Hollywood is one incredible performance, and last year Edgar Ramirez had his. Starring as international terrorist Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, also known as The Jackal, in the five-and-a-half hour biopic Carlos, Ramirez absolutely stunned critics and now he's getting what's coming to him. Deadline reports that the Venezuelan actor has officially been offered the role of Ares, the God of War, in Wrath of the Titans, Jonathan Liebesman's sequel to last year's Clash of the Titans. While the actor has not signed on just yet, the report says that they are nearing a deal. It was previously rumored that the studio wanted Javier Bardem for the role, though it seems now as though that didn't play out. In addition to the return of Sam Worthington, Gemma Arterton, Liam Neeson, and Ralph Fiennes returning for the second film in there respective roles, there has also been said that James Franco will join the cast as Agenor, the king of Tyre.

Those that haven't seen Carlos but still recognize Ramirez might now him as the assassin sent to kill Jason Bourne in the Bourne Ultimatum. Here's hoping that Wrath of the Titans lives up to Worthington's promise of better quality and that Ramirez can use it as another stepping stone on the way to stardom.
