Joss Whedon Talks With His Superheroes In New Set Of Avengers Images

The fact that we have an Avengers movie coming is amazing all by itself, but one of the most fascinating aspects of the projects is the fact that Joss Whedon is serving as director. While the Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Firefly creator has proven time and time again that he is fantastic at developing deep and emotional characters, his resume in the director's chair is actually fairly limited, having previously only directed one feature film (Serenity) and a handful of television episodes, both for series he created and others. But while we may not know much about Whedon's directing style, there is no denying that he is one of the highest ranking geeks in the world and today we get to see what Joss Whedon geeking out on set looks like.

Disney has released six new stills that go behind the scenes of the superhero team-up action film and there's just something really cool about seeing Whedon pose with Captain America's shield on his arm. You can see all six images below and you can click on each one to see it full size.

Set after the events of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers assembles some of the greatest heroes the world has ever known to face down a threat that could potentially end life on earth as we know it. The film stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg, Tom Hiddleston, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders.
