Peggy Sue Got Sued

Peggy Sue Got Married stars Kathleen Turner as a middle aged woman who gets the chance to relive her high school years and possibly change her future, including her marriage to a then-unknown Nicholas Cage. Turner recently wrote about making the 1986 movie in her new autobiography Send Yourself Roses and I can’t help but wonder if she might wish she couldn’t go back in time herself, as her book has opened a lawsuit from her Peggy Sue cinema-husband, Cage.

What specifically Turner has to say about Cage is currently unknown (the book hits stores later this week), but apparently Cage is unhappy about her portrayal of his on-set behavior. The BBC reports that Cage has responded to the book with a “defamation, libel, and slander” case over false allegations in the book. As you might expect, with legal action being taken, neither side was available for any sort of actual comment on the case, the book, or the incident in question.

Send Yourself Roses hits stores this week, which makes me a little wary over this lawsuit. Is there genuinely something to this or is this just a publicity stunt between Turner and Cage to help drum up attention for the autobiography? I guess we’ll have to see how this plays out to know for sure. Then again, if Turner or Cage really can go back and fix things, we’ll never know…
