Ross On Board with Gooding

The last thing I saw Cuba Gooding Jr. in was a Hanes commercial in which he yells to Michael Jordon in front of a group of blue hairs that he’s wearing Jordon’s underwear. He went from the Oscar-worthy “Show me the money” to the cringe-inducing “I’m wearing your underwear;” if that isn’t the perfect metaphor for Gooding’s career, I don’t know what is. But things could be looking up for Gooding. His new film continues to move forward, adding co-star Evan Ross to the queue of Linewatch, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Ross will play the Robin to Gooding’s Batman as Little Boy, the nephew of border-patrol agent and one-time Los Angeles gang member Michael Dixon (Gooding). When Dixon disappears from L.A., Little Boy joins a gang in search of a father figure. When the gang catches up to Dixon, he is forced to “take extreme measures to protect his family.” Granted, the plot does sound more like a 90s Tommy Lee Jones action movie than an Oscar pot boiler.

Shooting of the Motion Picture Corporation of America production has begun on location in New Mexico.
