Starbuck And Mal Find White Noise

Katie Sackhoff

Let’s hope that Slither does really well, because Nathan Fillian deserves better than to be stuck in a nerdboy stunt casted, ought-to-be straight to video movie like White Noise 2.

But for now, that’s exactly where Captain Mal Reynolds has ended up. The Hollywood Reporter says he joins the sequel with “Battlestar Galactica’s” Starbuck, Katie Sackhoff. White Noise made a decent amount of money, and I guess more than a few people liked it. So they’re taking that concept, throwing it out the window, hiring new, cheaper stars, and slapping the White Noise name on something completely unrelated for the follow up.

For the sequel, a man is brought back from the brink of death, and realizes he can sense those who are about to die. He tries to save people from their fate, and then suffers for interfering with Death. You may have noticed that none of this has anything to do with white noise, but instead sounds an awful lot like Final Destinations 1, 2, & 3.

Of course it’s great to see someone great like Katie Sackhoff getting work in film and it’s great to see Nathan Fillian working at all after the disaster of Serenity. Geeks will probably show up just to see them, something that the folks behind White Noise 2 were probably counting on when they hired them in the first place. But in a perfect world, these are two actors good enough to deserve something better.
