Winnie The Pooh Sails A River Of Honey In New Teaser Poster

The best animated characters are timeless. They may not hold the same importance they did when we were six, but a certain amount of reverence never leaves. That’s probably why I gave Yogi Bear two stars, despite the fact it was pretty bad on several levels. The premise just works. There will never be a point in my life where I don’t find the notion of an idiot bear enlisting his buddy to steal picnic baskets really funny. Likewise, there will never be a point in my life where I don’t have some affinity for Winnie The Pooh and his ragtag band of hangers-on.

A new poster for Winnie The Pooh dropped today, and it’s well above average. It shows the gang rafting atop a river of honey. Winnie is looking fierce and leading the charge. Tigger is enthusiastically steering, and Eeyore is, well, he’s pictured about as you’d expect Eeyore to be, that mopey pessimist. Take a look at the teaser below…

I’m still not sold on the overall quality of this project, but you can be sure I will see it. Part of me will even love it. That much is a guarantee; it’s just a question of whether my more sensible, discerning half will be able to get on board.

By the way, have you ever seen a teaser with this much blank space? Nowadays posters are normally about conveying as much excitement as is economically possible. Winnie The Pooh has always done things his own way though. If he wants to take up a few inches on the right hand side and leave the rest to glorify honey, he sure as hell will.
