Transformers: The Last Knight Contains An Adorable New Robot, Here’s What We Know

Michael Bay's Transformers franchise continues to grow and expand. The battle of the Autobots and the Decepticons has evolved since the series debuted in 2007, and tons of new combatants have entered the fray over the last decade. With Transformers: The Last Knight hitting theaters next summer, that trend will most certainly continue. An image of one of the newest Transformers characters has just hit the web, and it's nothing if not adorable. Check it out below.

The above image went live on Twitter yesterday afternoon, continuing the deluge of Transformers: The Last Knight character releases that have hit the web in recent days. Showcasing a new Autobot named "Sqweeks," the Transformers newcomer appears take the form of an old, rusty Vespa scooter with headlights for eyes and handlebars for arms. It's alright to say "awww," we did too.

Sqweeks doesn't appear to possess much in the way of armaments -- the wrenches on his back make us think he's more of a medic than a fighter -- but the photo's caption specifically warns bad guys not to "underestimate him." Although we have haven't seen the little guy in action yet, we have a feeling that he will probably have a few tricks up his sleeve. After all, the typical shtick of the Transformers is that there's "more than meets the eye."

The release of the above Sqweeks image seems to have had the desired effect for the Transformers franchise. Fans have taken notice of the adorable little Autobot, and he has very much received an incredibly warm reception from the online community. In a franchise full of giant, deadly robots, Sqweeks has a more friendly and welcoming appearance that will serve The Last Knight well in upping the cuteness factor.

With this image, Transformers: The Last Knight continues to stoke our excitement for the upcoming fifth installment in the long-running franchise. Sqweeks represents the latest in a long line of newly released characters, such as the villainous Onslaught as well a classic Autobot by the name of Hot Rod. We've known for quite some time that the Transformers franchise will endeavor to branch out and become more of a cohesive universe, and as such the flood of new personalities will allow the series to splinter off in new directions as time wears on. We love Optimus Prime, but there's so much more out there.

We never really thought we would refer to anything from the Transformers franchise as "adorable," but that's really the only way to classify Sqweeks at this point. He's a fascinating new addition to the franchise and we cannot wait to see how he looks in action.

Cinema Blend will bring you more details related to Transformers: The Last Knight as more information becomes available to us. The fifth installment in the Transformers franchise will blast its way into theaters next summer on June 23, 2017.
