What Hugh Jackman Might Look Like As Old Man Logan In Wolverine 3

Wolverine 3 will be Hugh Jackman's swan song as the famous clawed mutant next year, but some of the particulars of this final adventure remain shrouded in mystery. It's been rumored multiple times that the movie will adapt the Old Man Logan story arc, and when it was confirmed a few months ago that Wolverine 3 will be set in the future, that seemed to give more credence to the idea. Now Jackman has posted a picture of himself that suggests we may indeed see an aged Logan who will still be doing what he does best, even though it isn't very nice.

This recent photo from Hugh Jackman's Instagram page shows the actor looking much older than usual, and unless he's aged dramatically over the last few months, this is clearly a good-looking makeup job. There's even some tinges of grey in his beard. Jackman didn't mention Wolverine 3 in his post, but because the movie is still in production, we can deduce that his new look is for that. 20th Century Fox still hasn't confirmed whether Wolverine 3 is adapting Old Man Logan, but it's another bit of information that makes it look likelier that the 2008 alternate continuity story is being brought to the big screen, albeit heavily changed given character restrictions. Jackman is obviously enthusiastic about his changed appearance, writing as a caption, "Now that's what I'm talking about!"

While X-Men: Days of Future Past did add some grey to Logan's hair, he otherwise looked the same in that apocalyptic future. The above picture, though, is a definite transition to elderly, though we don't doubt that Logan can still unsheathe the claws and call upon that berserker rage if necessary. Keep in mind, however, that Hugh Jackman may not looks exactly like he does above for all of Wolverine 3. The movie could end decades after the R-rated main story has concluded to show that Logan is still chugging along while most, if not all, of his X-Men comrades have long since died.

While exact details have yet to be revealed, Wolverine 3 will see Logan reuniting with his mentor Professor Charles Xavier, played by Patrick Stewart, sometime in the future. The cast also includes Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez, but none of their characters have been identified. Liev Schreiber was also reportedly in talks to reprise Sabretooth. Although Wolverine's last chronological appearance was at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, a past version of him appeared in X-Men: Apocalypse when he was freed from Weapon X by Jean Grey, Cyclops and Nightcrawler.

Wolverine 3 hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
