What Drives Dwayne Johnson To Make Big Movies

Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest movie stars in the world. He makes countless films and every one of them seems destined to be a major blockbuster. Now, the actor explains why he's drawn to those sorts of films. Johnson says it's important to him that the work that he does create a value for the viewer because he understands that for many that ticket money can be hard to come by. According to The Rock...

I love being able to create big movies or TV shows that entertain people, that make them happy. I know what it's like to earn a dollar. I know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck and wonder how you're going to pay the rent. I know what it's like to be evicted. Money doesn't fall out of the sky. So if you're going to pay for your ticket, that inspires me to want to make a great movie.

It seems like every 10th story I write on this site is about one of Dwayne Johnson's upcoming movies or the fact that he's just signed on to another major project. He's not simply one of the most successful stars in Hollywood, he's also one of the busiest. His second of three films releasing this year comes out today, and he's currently filming the one that will follow that. He doesn't seem to ever sleep. Based on his comments to the Associated Press, it would appear that the reason for this drive isn't just something he personally wants to do, but something he feels he owes to the audience because he knows what it's like when money is precious.

While Dwayne Johnson may have lived paycheck to paycheck previously, it's not a current problem he has. The actor recently topped the Forbes list of highest paid actors in Hollywood.

For the most part, we can't argue that Dwayne Johnson has succeeded in his drive to make entertaining films and TV shows for the audience. From the Fast and Furious franchise to his HBO series Ballers to the earthquake action movie San Andreas the Rock's projects have been receiving a lot of commercial success, and no small amount of critical acclaim either. The man plays the action hero perfectly but he also has a great sense of comedic timing too. There seems to be very little the man can't do.

The film adaptation of Baywatch, starring Dwayne Johnson, opens in theaters today and his sequel to Jumanji will be arriving in theaters this December. From there we'll be seeing Johnson is everything from a film version of the video game Rampage to a movie based on Disney's Jungle Cruise theme park ride. While we can't know how any of these movies will turn out, we do know that the man behind them is going to do what he can to make them entertaining experiences for the audience.
