Man And Woman Dressed As The Joker And Harley Quinn Shot By Police At Swingers Party

Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn

The Joker and Harley Quinn are two of the most popular characters in pop culture so it's not surprising that a couple would enjoy dressing up in costume. However, things got a little too real when this Joker and Harley had a run in with police. The incident occurred in Australia when a couple attended a party in costume at a club holding a Saints and Sinners Ball. Police apparently responded to a call that the Joker was carrying a gun, which led to the cops storming the bar and eventually shooting both the Joker and Harley. The story gets even more bizarre when you include the fact that the two were apparently having sex at the time.

Details are bizarre and conflicting, so at this point, it's difficult to say exactly what went down at the Inflation nightclub during the Saints and Sinners Ball in Melbourne. According to The Age, the couple dressed as the Joker and Harley Quinn were in attendance at the party and were engaged in a "sexual act" in front of several other party-goers when about 40 police officers stormed the club. The police claim they received several calls that The Joker was carrying a gun. They also claim that when the police approached him, he pointed the gun at them, at which point they opened fire. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since been stabilized. The woman was hit and was admitted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

However, the security at the club claim that the gun the Joker had was actually fake, and that he wasn't holding it at the time anyway. It has not been confirmed what he was holding at the time. The truth should be known shortly as the entire event was apparently captured on the club's CCTV system.

When asked why the woman was shot in the exchange, a police superintendent stated that she was in "close proximity" to the man and was hit when the police opened fire. That's the politest euphemism for "having sex with" I've ever heard. Also, it appears to be an admission that somebody missed.

I'm not saying the guy couldn't have pointed a gun at the cops while also having sex. However, that does seem like a lot to focus on at once.

The pairing of the Joker and Harley Quinn have been popular for a long time, but the big screen debut of Harley Quinn in last summer's Suicide Squad has clearly pushed their popularity to another level. Hopefully, future costume party attendees will have fewer problems actually crossing police.
