Some Of Your Favorite Disney Princesses Are Coming Back To Theaters

Brave

While Disney is having massive film success these days thanks to superheroes and Jedi, they owe a lot of their ability to provide those movies to the success of the succession of Disney Princess movies that came before. Now, a few of them are coming back to theaters. Today Disney and AMC Theaters have announced a limited engagement that will see five great Disney Princess movies come back to the screen. Beginning September 15 and running until October 19, you'll have a chance to see Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, and Brave.

If you're a Disney fan then you may have seen a collection of online videos and other promotional material from Disney since last year that carried the tagline "Dream big, princess." Now, the idea has spawned the Dream Big, Princess marathon which will bring five classic Disney Princesses back to the screen. Tickets are now on sale for all five films at select AMC theaters around the country. Each movie will be in theaters for a week, with two showings per day. Beauty and the Beast will run September 15-21, Mulan will screen September 22-28, Tangled will be available September 29-October 5, The Princess and the Frog runs October 6-12, and finally you can see Brave October 13-19. Each film will screen at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM each day.

In addition to the screenings at AMC Theaters, there will also be a slightly smaller version of the marathon screening at Disney's El Capitan Theater in Southern California. That marathon will not include Beauty and the Beast or Mulan, but it will add Moana. The dates are also slightly different.

Needless to say, if you're a fan of any one of these movies, never mind all of them, this is a great marathon. The most recent movie in the AMC marathon, Brave, is five years old so it's been at least that long since most people have seen it on the big screen. Everything else has been out of circulation even longer. If the recent live-action version of Beauty and the Beast made you long to see the original on the big screen again, this is your chance to do so. Want to check out Mulan again before that movie gets the live-action treatment as well? Now you have a chance.

Though not every AMC theater will be running the marathon, AMC is one of the larger theater chains in the country there's a good chance there's one close to you. Although, this writer would have to travel about 60 miles to see the films, which doesn't mean that won't happen, at least to see Tangled again on the big screen. If there was an all-day marathon of all five movies, it would be a done deal.

Disney has an extensive back catalog so hopefully, this will be the first of many more re-releases. There's a lot that would be nice to see back on a movie screen again.
