Jake Kasdan's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle ended up being the nostalgic sequel no one really knew they needed until they finally got it. The pairing of Kevin Hart and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a no-brainer. We saw it on display in the comedy Central Intelligence, but adding the stylings of Jack Black and Karen Gillan led to a perfect foursome that brought new laughs and fresh life to the Jumanji concept. It seems to simple and obvious now, but asking these four actors to play totally against type because they are teenagers inhabiting the bodies of video game avatars was a stroke of genius, and the long-in-development sequel Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle benefitted from the chemistry in all of the best ways possible.
This clip, which is part of the new Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Blu-ray and DVD, also highlights how Kevin Hart will improvise inside of a scene, forcing Karen Gillan to react to whatever nonsense he's spouting or, as Jack Black confirms, step up his own game to make sure that he's as funny -- or funnier -- than his co-star.
