Samuel L. Jackson has been a busy man as of late, what with the productions of the Shaft reboot, Glass and most recently Captain Marvel all taking up his social calendar. Thankfully, these busy times haven't stopped him from keeping his social media game strong, and he has something rather simple to thank for that: t-shirts! For the past couple of weeks, the man who's reprising Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been showing off some stellar shirts that reference some of his classic characters as he continues work on Captain Marvel. Let's take a look at some of them together!
We'll start off with a simple, but popular reference in Samuel L. Jackson's career, as one of the shirts he was wearing shows off LEGO-style figures of both himself and John Travolta in Pulp Fiction. In another post, he showed off a shirt with just Jules's face on it, but if there's anything cooler than Jackson's face, it's that very same face in the style of LEGO. Of course, there are some deeper cuts represented, as you'll see in the next post.
Who's the bad private dick who's being shown off under Jackson's lips? Shaft! John Shaft II, to be exact, sporting a black trench coat and a purple turtleneck. If we didn't know any better, we'd say this shirt is trying to tell us that Mace Windu survived the Star Wars series and began the family line that'd lead to Samuel L. Jackson's crimefighter from the 2000 soft reboot.
How does one review Samuel L. Jackson's works without bringing up a film so near and dear to him that he fought to keep the original title. That's right, if it wasn't for Jackson, Snakes on a Plane would have been given a more generic title, scaring off audiences for good. History had other plans though, and that success lead to this awesome shirt showcasing two snakes in the cockpit of a plane. Is it too late for a sequel?
Last but not least, there's a shirt that encapsulates Samuel L. Jackson's entire career, both in images and in one single word: "legend." This shirt's the coup de grace, as it showcases everything from Pulp Fiction and Shaft to Django Unchained, SWAT, and Jackie Brown, all on one fantastic shirt! While some may think of these Instagram posts as merely Jackson killing time during his Captain Marvel shoot, they're a pretty cool way for the legendary actor to connect with his fans. Not to mention that these shirts are ultimately a tribute to his storied career and all of the iconic roles he's played over its decades-long reign.
2019 will be the year of Samuel L. Jackson, as he's set to appear in Glass, Captain Marvel and Shaft, all releasing between January and June of next year. Though if you know the 2018 release schedule as well as we do, you'd know that you'll soon hear his voice in Incredibles 2, which drops on June 15.
