Robert Downey Jr. And Other Original Avengers Got Matching Tattoos
Just because people perform together in a movie or several doesn't necessarily mean they get along when the cameras aren't rolling, but when looking at the core cast of Marvel Cinematic Universe actors, it appears like they truly enjoy spending time together. Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner make up the founding Avengers in the MCU, and with their time together coming to an end next year in Avengers 4, most of this group decided to get matching tattoos to remember their shared experiences. Check out the video below to see Downey getting his tattoo.
These tattoos come courtesy of Joshua Lord, who inked all of the founding Avengers except for Mark Ruffalo, who opted out of getting a tattoo. However, there will still six tattoos designed total, as Lord decided to get one, too. If you flip to the accompanying picture and video posted by Robert Downey Jr, the tattoo looks like it's a mashup of partial symbols/insignias that represent Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye, all of which come together to form the Avengers symbol. You can see Lord posing with Downey, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner in the picture, below.
As for how the idea for this tattoo originated, Robert Downey Jr. informed EW that Scarlett Johansson came up with it, with her and Chris Evans getting their tattoos in New York and Joshua Lord flying out to Los Angeles to put the design on Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner. However, rather than Lord then applying the tattoo on himself afterwards or having another professional do it, he let the Marvel actors do it themselves, which led to mixed results. As Downey explained:
Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War are ahead!
Although Avengers: Infinity War brought back nearly all of the original Avengers together, Hawkeye sat out the battle against Thanos and his forces, but with Renner confirmed to appear in Avengers 4, evidently he was one of the post-snap survivors, and he'll jump back into action next year, possibly as Ronin. Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Black Widow also survived being wiped out by the power of the six Infinity Stones, but it remains to be seen what's in store for them and the other surviving heroes in Avengers 4, particularly how they'll manage to bring their allies and half of the universe back to life
We'll see the original Avengers together one last time, along with all the other major MCU heroes, when Avengers 4 is released on May 3, 2019. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for continuing MCU coverage, and look through our 2018 release schedule to learn what other movies come out this year.
