One Marvel Character Who Will Definitely Be Back For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer

Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War are ahead!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes tried their hardest to stop Thanos from obtaining the six Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War, but they were unsuccessful, and at the movie, the Mad Titan snapped his fingers and wiped out half of life across the universe. This included many of the heroes we've been watching in the franchise in recent years, and it was heartbreaking to watch them fade away before our eyes. However, as anyone familiar with superhero stories will tell you, death isn't quite as permanent in this genre, and with Avengers 4 coming next year, we can expect most, if not all, of these vanished characters to return of life. One character that will definitely be back for both Avengers 4 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 the year after is everyone's favorite metaphor-ignorant Guardian of the Galaxy, Drax the Destroyer. Dave Bautista confirmed as such, saying:

I got a lot of texts saying, 'I can't believe you're dead, your character's dead.' They were really heartbroken, and I was like, 'I'm gonna be in [Avengers] 4, I'm also gonna be in Guardians 3. I don't know how they're bringing me back, but...' Yeah, somehow I'm gonna make it, because as far as I know, I am gonna be in Guardians 3, so I have to be back.

It's only been a month since Avengers: Infinity War was released in theaters, and even though that means there's less than a year before Avengers 4 arrives, Marvel Studios is staying tight-lipped on what's in store. Clearly Dave Bautista is being kept in the dark as to how Drax will return, although as he acknowledged last year, he chose not to read the full Avengers: Infinity War script, so presumably he made the same decision for Avengers 4. But as the wrestler-turned-actor told Collider, he's been assured that not only will Drax be back for Avengers 4, he'll also be around for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Which, as things stand now, will be the second movie in Marvel's Phase Four, preceded by Spider-Man: Homecoming 2.

By the time Avengers: Infinity War concluded, only two of the Guardians were left standing: Rocket Raccoon and Nebula. Thanos killed Gamora as a sacrifice to he could secure the Soul Stone, and the rest we're wiped out by the Mad Titan instantly altering reality. While it remains to be seen if Gamora will be brought back given that she died before Thanos collected all six Infinity Stones, hopefully Drax will be reunited with Rocket, Nebula, Star-Lord, Mantis and Groot when everything is said and done in Avengers 4. From there, Drax can back to his life of battling bad guys and practice being invisible.

No plot details for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have been revealed yet, although with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 having teased the coming of Adam Warlock, perhaps the cosmos-traveling team will finally face him in the threequel.
