Jumanji 3 Is Underway, And The Rock Is Still Ripping On Kevin Hart

Some actors simply work well together, whether it's Brad Pitt and George Clooney in the Ocean's Eleven franchise or Nick Frost and Simon Pegg in Edgar Wright's Cornetto Trilogy. Then there is Kevin Hart and The Rock, a duo that has consistently delivered great action and even greater comedy in their collaborations. Plus, the two have provided an off-screen rivalry that's never short on laughs. Now, with Jumanji 3 officially underway, The Rock has taken to social media to celebrate the beginning of the film's development and joke that Hart won't survive the first 15 seconds of the movie. The action star posted:

So the third Jumanji movie is now moving forward with gusto, and The Rock very clearly wants us to start getting excited about the flick. However, he also wants us to know that he's still willing to mess with Kevin Hart in the name of having some fun. Specifically, The Rock used his social media post to leak a "spoiler" indicating that Kevin Hart will die within the first 15 seconds of the third Jumanji movie, and that the scene will lead to an uproar of applause from the audience, as well as the returning cast members like The Rock, Guardians of the Galaxy's Karen Gillan, Tropic Thunder's Jack Black, and pop star Nick Jonas.

Of course, this prank is only the latest in a series of hilarious rips and gags by The Rock at Kevin Hart's expense. The former wrestler has consistently put the stand-up comedian in his sights over the course of working on their projects, either pranking him on the set of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle or merely impersonating him with fantastic accuracy. That said, the two seem to have a strong working relationship, given the fact that they've collaborated several times, so the entire thing is all in good fun.

One other thing that we're still left wondering is whether or not The Rock is telling the truth with his remarks about Kevin Hart dying early in the next Jumanji movie. One of the exciting narrative elements added to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was the idea of the video game avatars having multiple lives in the vein of classic arcade games. We don't know anything about Jumanji 3's plot yet, but if that video game trope holds true, then Hart's Franklin "Mouse" Finbar actually could die in the first 15 seconds and then respawn to continue the rest of the movie, no problem.

Beyond all of that, the prospect of a third Jumanji movie seems particularly exciting when we consider the talent that is returning to the fold. As noted by The Rock's post about the threequel, Jumanji 3 is bringing back original director Jake Kasden, along with writers Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. On the producing side of things, The Rock is also once again teaming up with Matt Tolmach, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia.

Make sure to stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates related to the development of Jumanji 3 as they become available to us. For now, you can catch The Rock's latest action outing when his new film, Skyscraper, opens in theaters next month on July 13.
