Two Disappeared Infinity War Characters Who Are Expected To Meet

Nick Fury and Black Panther

Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War.

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been successful, Phase Three has been on another level. Every single blockbuster has crushed, with Avengers: Infinity War bringing the shared universe's characters together for an epic and horrifying battle against Thanos. In the end the bad guy won, and the Mad Titan wiped out half the galaxy with the snap of a finger. But it looks like two dusted characters are going to meet eventually: Nick Fury and T'Challa aka Black Panther. Samuel L. Jackson has been open about his disappointment in not starring in Black Panther, and recently revealed that Marvel ensured him the two heroes would be meeting in the future.

It was just like, 'Ehh, nah. We're good. Nick Fury and Black Panther will meet somewhere. But not there.'

Well, this is exciting. While fans have no idea what to expect in Avengers 4 and beyond, the idea of Nick Fury and T'Challa sharing a scene is enough to get hearts pounding. And just when you thought we'd seen every crossover possible.

Samuel L. Jackson's comments to ET is just the most recent time the legendary actor has expressed his interest in meeting Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther. Ryan Coogler's blockbuster made movie and superhero history, becoming a massive pop culture moment in the process. Box office records were broken, and the significance of having a black superhero movie directed by a black filmmaker was not lost on the public. Coogler assembled an outstanding cast including Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, Sterling K. Brown, Forest Whitaker, and Michael B. Jordan. It stands to reason that Jackson would want to be included in such a company, although that didn't end up happening.

Given Nick Fury's history in the MCU, it would have made sense if he appeared Black Panther. Samuel L. Jackson's signature Marvel character brought together the original Avengers, and seems very aware of the planet's various superpowered entities. But given the huge roster of characters and films in Phase Three, he's mostly been pushed to the side. The character didn't pop up at all until the post-credits scene of Infinity War, heralding Captain Marvel for assistance.

Luckily, Nick Fury will be returning to the MCU in a more significant way through Captain Marvel, Carl Davner's origin story set in the 1990's. After that, it's unclear if and when Fury could return. Fans are assuming that the characters lost in Thanos' snap of death will eventually be revived, but there's no guarantees. What is guaranteed is that whatever happens, Nick Fury will apparently come face to face with Wakanda's protector and King.

Avengers: Infinity War is in theaters now, and Captain Marvel will arrive on March 8, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
