Tom Holland Thanks Fans For Spider-Man's $1 Billion Success With Making-Of Clip
Last week Spider-Man: Far From Home made box office history when it became the first Spidey movie to cross $1 billion worldwide. It reigns as the highest-earning Spider-Man film of all time and it did it just three weeks into its theatrical run. Tom Holland is now celebrating this achievement with a little behind-the-scenes Instagram… because duh! He’s the youngest Avenger, so social media is kind of his forte. Anyways, take a look:
Well this is awesome! The Spider-Man actor is showing off some of his awesome wall-scaling in the above video. He may be on wires, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Tom Holland does a ton of his own stunts as the Web-Slinger and this making-of clip gives audiences an extra taste of this.
Tom Holland shared the video in celebration of Spider-Man: Far From Home's $1 billion milestone and took time to give a shoutout to his stuntmen Greg Townley and Luke Scott for “taking all the big hits,” along with tagging stunt coordinator George Cottle. While Holland and the other big stars often get all the glory, it’s nice that he’s bringing some attention to the stunt team behind the scenes. Brie Larson similarly showed her love for stunt doubles when she brought them up while recently accepting an MTV award.
Marisa Tomei (aka Aunt May) also took to Instagram to show some moments from set in celebration of the record-breaking superhero film. Take a look:
It looks like Spider-Man: Far From Home was a blast to work on! Not to mention there was the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio joining as well! Tom Holland and Gyllenhaal got along so well that they couldn’t quit laughing during a simple handshake sequence between them (it took more than 40 takes!)
Many movies coming from Disney’s Marvel Studios have crossed the billion mark, including Captain Marvel which ended its run at $1.128 billion worldwide and Avengers: Endgame, which became the highest-grossing movies of all time, surpassing James Cameron Avatar for a grand total of $2.793 billion globally. Far From Home currently sits at $1.039 billion.
As it currently stands, Disney holds the top six highest-earning spots for 2019, with Toy Story 4, The Lion King and Aladdin at spots three through five, sandwiched between Marvel’s sky high achievements.

Although Tom Holland passes on the love to his stunt doubles in his Instagram post, his beloved performance as Spider-Man certainly has a lot to do with it! However, it could be some time before we see his character back on the big screen, since Spider-Man 3 wasn’t announced among Marvel’s Phase Four slate.
