Netflix's Kissing Booth 3 Trailer Teases Emotional Last Movie For Joey King's Elle

Like many beloved stories, it all started with a kiss for Joey King’s Elle in The Kissing Booth. The 2018 movie based on Beth Reekles’ Wattpad novel became a big hit on Netflix as it followed a teen’s unexpected romance with bad boy Noah after a school fundraiser meet-cute. Three years later, we’re getting ready to say goodbye to the YA phenomenon with The Kissing Booth 3.

As we learned early this year, The Kissing Booth 3 will be the third and final installment of the movie series starring Joey King, Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi and Joel Courtney. Ahead of its August release date, Netflix has released its first trailer for The Kissing Booth 3 (above) and its teasing quite the emotional finale for the trio of high schoolers.

The trailer opens with Elle, Noah and Lee getting permission from Molly Ringwald’s Mrs. Flynn to watch over her beach house for their last summer before college. The trio throw a massive house party at the residence (because, duh!), and the next afternoon best friends Elle and Lee find an old beach bucket list they had put together when they were kids. The list contains all the ‘crazy’ things they wanted to do as a pair before going to college, and now that deadline is coming in hot.

The Kissing Booth 3 trailer has Elle and Lee having the time of their lives checking off activities on their list, but it’s just a side distraction from Elle’s real decision. The high school senior will be tasked with a major dilemma about what to do after graduating. She has the option to move across the country with her boyfriend Noah or go to college alongside her childhood best friend as she originally had planned. Either way it sounds like it’s going to be a tricky crossroads for her to figure out.

The trailer gets into the push and pull Elle is dealing with as the time she has to make a college decision sneaks up on her. Although her relationships with Noah and Lee are both extremely special to her, she is being challenged to follow her own dreams and pick what is best for her in the end. In other words, it’s a lot more complicated than choosing between one boy or the other.

The final Kissing Booth movie definitely looks to include a bit more summer fun for its characters mixed with drama we love from the franchise as it wraps up the story. YA fans have already been through saying goodbye to Lara Jean with To All The Boys movies, which ended early this year with a similar decision on the brain of Lana Condor’s character.

What’s interesting for fans of The Kissing Booth is they don’t know what’s going to happen. While the story is initially based on a Wattpad novel by Beth Reekles, her third book The Kissing Booth: One Last Time has yet to hit shelves. The novel will actually be released one week after the Netflix movie on August 17. The Kissing Booth 3 hits Netflix on August 11. In the meantime, check out what new movies and TV shows are coming to the streaming service this month.
