As far as Marvel characters go, Spider-Man is definitely one of the most beloved. It’s likely for this reason that anticipation for Spider-Man: No Way Home is at a fever pitch, especially now that the first trailer has finally arrived. Unfortunately, a low-res version of said trailer leaked a few days prior, and now director Jon Watts hilariously poked fun at said leak.

Just a few days before Spider-Man: No Way Home’s trailer officially arrived, it unfortunately made its way online. One of the versions going around was a recording of the clip playing on an iPhone, making the contents nearly impossible to see. Jon Watts has delightfully referenced that bootleg in his own response to the trailer, check it out below:

I mean, how can you not love this guy? While Jon Watts and the folks at Sony were no doubt disappointed to see the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home get leaked, it looks like they ultimately had the last laugh. After all, the official version already has a whopping 41 million views at the time of writing this story.

The above post comes to us from Jon Watts’ personal Instagram account. In it we see the thrilling first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. Well... sort of. Because we’re actually viewing the clip through five different screens. It’s kind of like having your own multiverse IRL.

As previously mentioned, the trailer leak for Spider-Man: No Way Home doesn’t seem to have negatively affected the official version. Fans have dissected every frame that’s currently available, resulting in even more fan theories. As a reminder, you can check it out below.

Despite being set to release in just a few months, not much has been officially confirmed relating to the contents of Spider-Man: No Way Home. This trailer seemed to confirm that the multiverse is in play, especially thanks to the appearance of Alfred Molina as Doc Ock. Plus we can see Green Goblin’s signature bombs, seemingly heralding the return of Willem Dafoe.

While the first trailer might have confirmed some theories, there are countless more. The most popular is that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield might be reprising their roles as Spider-Man. But those pair of actors were noticeably missing from this first Spider-Man: No Way Home clip. We’ll just have to wait and see as the film gets ever closer to theaters.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently set to arrive in theaters on December 17th. In the meantime, check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.
