It doesn't happen very often, but it seems as though Chelsea Handler is trying to make the jump from late night talk show host to actress. Deadline reports that Handler has been cast in McG's This Means War with Tom Hardy, Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon. In the film, Handler will play Witherspoon's best friend and confidant as two CIA agent best friends go to war over her. She is is scheduled to join the production later this month. The comedienne is best known for her late night show on the E! cable network and recently released a book called "Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang". Next year, she will be appearing in the live-action/CGI comedy Hop with Russell Brand as the Easter Bunny.

While I can't attest to being a watcher of Chelsea Lately or even a regular viewer of the E! channel in general, I will say this: if the show and Handler up are up to the standards of the rest of the network, both in terms of content and entertainment value, then McG is the perfect director for her to be working with.
