Read Meghan Markle's Letter To Her Father After Royal Wedding Drama

Meghan Markle - Suits

The relationship between Meghan Markle and her father Thomas Markle has been fraught with difficulties since before the Royal Wedding commenced in May of last year. After a scandal involving doctored press photos resulted in health troubles that found Thomas Markle unable to attend the wedding, the elder Markle has found himself on the outs from the royal family. As Thomas told the media time and time again, he is disconnected with his daughter despite multiple attempts, and he has basically given up hope that he will ever be able to reconnect with his famous daughter again.

But with each attempt to get reacquainted with his daughter through media-filtered pleads, Thomas Markle seems to be digging himself into a hole that's continuously deeper. And while Meghan Markle hasn't spoken out publicly about her father's continued efforts to talk to her and reconnect with his recently married daughter, she is appears distressed about the whole situation. At least, that's the case according to personalized, hand-written letters that were acquired by The Daily Mail and made public this week. As she explains in the grief-stricken responses, she is not happy with how this situation has been handled by her father, and she finds herself concerned with how he is choosing to make this difficult situation even harder on them.

Daddy, it is with a heavy heart that I write this, not understanding why you have chosen to take this path, turning a blind eye to the pain you are causing. Your actions have broken my heart into a million pieces -- not simply because you have manufactured such unnecessary and unwarranted pain, but by making the choice to not tell the truth as you are puppeteered in this. Something I will never understand.

In these letters, which are addressed on "August 2018," Meghan Markle speaks frankly about the pain she feels through her father's unwillingness to handle this personal matter in private fashion. She claims that she is "devastated" by Thomas Markle and his constant attempts to sour his daughter's reputation through the media. She claims that her heart has been broken into "a million pieces" and she challenges the accusations made by Thomas Markle about attempting to contact Meghan Markle about the Royal Wedding and how he hasn't been financially supported by his very wealthy child.

If you love me, as you tell the press you do, please stop. Please allow us to live our lives in peace. Please stop lying, please stop creating so much pain, please stop exploiting my relationship with my husband. I realize you are so far down this rabbit hole that you feel (or may feel) there’s no way out, but if you take a moment to pause I think you’ll see that being able to live with a clear conscience is more valuable than any payment in the world.

As Meghan Markle notes in the letters, there is no clear way to address the pain that is felt between these two family members. But even though these letters were not meant to be public, they were reportedly released to the world by Thomas Markle (as you probably assumed). The correspondence gived the public a chance to hear Markle's side of the story. Specifically, how she feels about her father's constant media attempts to decry the guarded royal family and cause even more trouble between Meghan Markle and her newfound in-laws. Alas, there is probably no simple solution to be found.
