Kensington Palace Has Responded To The Meghan Markle Father Drama

Meghan Markle Suits

With less than a week before the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle commences, we were prime for some drama. Sure enough, we got a whole bunch of it yesterday. As it was reported earlier this week, Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle's father, found himself in serious trouble when it was revealed that he was staging photos of himself to help sell to the tabloids, essentially trying to profit off his daughter's high-profile marriage. As you would expect, the royal family were none too pleased to hear about this development. It wasn't clear if Thomas Markle was still walking his daughter down the aisle after this incident, and today, in a notice to the press and public, the Buckingham Palace officially put their royal foot (feet?) down and proclaimed that Meghan Markle's father was no longer invited to the royal ceremony. Here's what we know about this Royal Wedding scandal thus far.

In a statement found on social media, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson addressed Thomas Markle's revoked invitation when saying the following.

This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle during this difficult situation.

One can hardly imagine the influx of emotions being felt by all the parties involved. It would be dramatic if it were happening at a local wedding, let alone before the biggest and most discussed wedding of the year. Maybe the past couple years, even. In any case, Thomas Markle's inability to attend the Royal Wedding will relieve some of the awkwardness of the situation, especially if Thomas Markle attended after this fiasco. Can you even imagine?

While Thomas Markle is no longer one of the thousands of guests invited to the Royal Wedding on May 19th in the Windsor Castle, the father of the bride is not the only person in Meghan Markle's life who has upset the royal family. Indeed, Trevor Engelson, i.e. Meghan Markle's previous husband, found himself in some bubbling hot tea when it was announced that he was working on a TV show centered around a divorcee who enters the royal family. Gee, does that sound like anyone in the press lately? Because of this abuse of trust, Engelson was also blacklisted from the Royal Wedding.

No matter. While Thomas Markle isn't invited to the Royal Wedding, he can watch it on TV. The royal wedding is set to be broadcasted live. So, while it's not the most ideal option, at least it's something, right? In any case, we'll keep you posted on all the latest Royal Wedding updates as they arrive.
