Subscribe To Amy Schumer Reveals Her Husband Is On The Autism Spectrum Updates
As anyone familiar with her comedy will know, Amy Schumer is a very open and honest person. The bold and often raunchy comedienne isn't afraid to reveal details about herself — sometimes flattering and sometimes, well, maybe not — and she has built a name for herself by being true to herself and keeping things real on a consistent basis. But, in her latest stand-up special, Amy Schumer shared some details about a special person in her life: her husband, chef Chris Fischer.
As she explained in the new stand-up special, Amy Schumer recently discovered that her partner is on the autism spectrum. And she wasn't exactly surprised. Here's how she explained her response to this personal news about her husband.
Amy Schumer revealed this personal information in Amy Schumer: Growing, her newest Netflix special which comes out tomorrow on the streaming service (via Entertainment Tonight). In the hour-long stand-up routine, Schumer recounts the build-up to this discovery about her husband, and how she could see the signs of this diagnosis even before it was known officially. For instance, Schumer notes in her special that she found her husband had a strange reaction to a moment in their relationship when she fell while the couple was taking a walk together. But as the actress/comedienne later admits, the qualities found in Chris Fischer's autism spectrum diagnosis were all the reasons why she fell in love with her husband in the first place. As the celebrity explained:
With advancements being made every day, more information is becoming readily available about autism and the defining characteristics found in people who are on the spectrum. Speaking for myself, I have known most of my life that I am on the spectrum, but there are many people who are only recently discovering this eye-opening piece of news about themselves — particularly with its broadening definitions and distinctions, as well as new developments in the scientific field. With that, Chris Fischer has discovered that he, too, is on the spectrum, and Amy Schumer believes the signs were apparent from the get-go, before the diagnosis. Now that it's confirmed, the pregnant comedienne believes that she has all-the-more reasons to love the man in her life, and it has provided a bit of clarity about him for her.
Amy Schumer: Growing hits Netflix on March 19th.
