After separating, couples often wait months or even years to officially file the divorce papers, but apparently, Danica McKellar wasn’t excited about being in limbo that long. Just three days after splitting from her husband Mike Verta, the Wonder Years star submitted the paperwork to make it legal, citing irreconcilable differences.

The soon-to-be ex-spouses dated for eight long years before they finally walked down the aisle in 2009. A baby named Draco followed not long after, but apparently, his presence wasn’t enough to keep the couple together. According to E! News, McKellar is seeking joint custody; so, that should be one less battle that has to be fought in the courtroom.

The thirty-seven-year-old attended UCLA awhile back and actually co-authored a relevant mathematical theorem. It’s called the Chayes-McKellar-Winn Theorem, and if nothing else, it’s a reason to be impressed by Winnie Cooper’s crazy intelligence.

We’ll keep you updated as the divorce moves through the courts.
