Scream Queens Is Adding Another Glee Star For Season 2

FOX's Scream Queens had a breakout first season, and anticipation for Season 2 is starting to build as we hear more about what's in store for the comedic fright fest. Well, a new cast member has been announced, and actor James Earl will be joining the show when Season 2 begins.

The news comes from Entertainment Weekly that Glee actor James Earl will be a series regular for Season 2 of Scream Queens. Earl will one of the male leads, along with recently added John Stamos and Taylor Lautner, and he will, of course, be joining fellow Glee star Lea Michele in the cast. Earl will be playing a character named, get ready for this weirdness, Candy Striper, which I really hope is simply the man's job title at the creepy hospital where the new season will be set, as opposed to his actual name. Because, really, a guy who had his parents name him Candy Striper would have a tough time growing up.

James Earl made his TV debut in 2004 on the Nickelodeon show Drake & Josh, and since then has racked up a list of 27 credits, mostly in television work. While the actor is probably best known as one of the football players who abused the New Directions singers on Glee, he's also appeared in ER, Crossing Jordan, Bones, CSI, Community, Weeds, Mom, Extant and the recent FOX series Cooper Barrett's Guide to Surviving Life. He recently completed the action horror film The Belko Experiment.

Scream Queens set itself apart from other horror shows in its first season by injecting the genre with some much needed humor, and it was usually humor of the scathing sort. The show's characters take shots at ugly people, deaf people, gay people, old people, fat people, disabled people and pretty much everyone who isn't the pristine mean-girl/head sorority chick Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts). The humor often extended to the bloody kills that the program offered up, with many less-than-decent people getting chopped to bits in the most outrageous ways.

Season 1 of Scream Queens focused on the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority at the fictional Wallace University, and the serial killer that began to plague the ladies and their friends after they're forced to take on less than desirable pledges, a murder spree that seems to be connected to similar cases from decades prior on the campus. The second season will move the action, and many of the main characters, to a creepy hospital owned by Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis), who also happens to be the dean at Wallace University. Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourde, Keke Palmer, Glen Powell and Curtis are all reprising their roles for Season 2.

Well, we can see how James Earl's Candy Striper plays into the scary hospital action when Scream Queens returns to FOX on September 20.
