Watch Kristen Bell And Dax Shepard's Amazing Game Of Thrones Musical Tribute

Game of Thrones has been off the air for more than a year now, and fans are going a little stir crazy as we wait for new episodes. Luckily, we only have a couple of days left before the show returns for Season 7, and the upcoming premiere is cause for celebration. Celebrity fans Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard found a truly unique (and absolutely amazing) way of sharing their excitement for the new season of Game of Thrones. The married couple put together a musical tribute that is definitely worth watching a time or three:

This musical tribute would have been impressive if Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard has simply put on the costumes for one pair of characters and pretended to go to town on instruments. Instead, they went through a whole bunch of characters in the course of this quick video set to the tune of the Game of Thrones opening credits. They didn't even simply stop at wardrobe. They wore makeup and wigs and even fake blood in certain cases. Kudos to them for pulling out all the stops in their musical tribute to Game of Thrones.

Personally, I'm having a hard time picking my favorite looks for Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. Their versions of Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen are pretty spot on, even if their final sword fight in the snow was more reminiscent of Rey and Kylo Ren's lightsaber battle from The Force Awakens than anything that has happened in Game of Thrones. Before the kissing started, anyway. That said, I have to give credit to Kristen Bell for her look as Lancel Lannister. Who knew that the star of Veronica Mars and The Good Place could deliver such a spot-on impersonation of a fictional male religious zealot?

Still, I think I have to give the win to Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard as Brienne of Tarth and the Hound as they managed to engage in a sword fight without putting down their French horns. Dax Shepard isn't quite as bulky as Rory McCann, but he wears that burn makeup and scraggly wig with pride. Plus, itty bitty Kristen Bell playing Brienne of Tarth makes for a great visual gag. How she managed to swing a sword, clutch a French horn, and not fall off of what must have been a pretty high box is beyond me.

This video is definitely worth a few laughs, which we may need in the next couple of months. The new season of Game of Thrones should be pretty exciting as the Great War begins and the key players come together, but we can count on plenty of death and destruction as well. The show isn't likely to suddenly turn into something light and fun in its seventh season. Depending on how bloody things get, we may need to check back in on Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard getting silly to cleanse our palates in the coming weeks.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones will kick off on Sunday, July 16 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
