New House Of Cards Video Reveals Francis Underwood's Fate

House of Cards is returning for its final season, and it is not going to leave its fans wondering about the fate of Francis Underwood any longer. That is because a new teaser released by Netflix divulges it. Ahead of the Season 6 premiere, the show has revealed one of its potentially major plot points. And it is destined to have ripple effects throughout the upcoming season. Find out Frank's fate for yourself in the video below:

There you have it. Francis Underwood is dead. When House of Cards left off in Season 5, Frank's wife Claire had taken over as President of the United States following his resignation. Speaking into the camera, he had said that he would kill her if she did not pardon him in her televised address, which she did not. He kept calling to confront her, but she never answered. Instead, she turned to the camera to say it was her turn.

While brief, the Season 6 video reveals a lot about what transpired next. Seeming to start in the middle of a thought or during a speech, Claire stands in front of his grave and reveals that Frank has been buried in his backyard. She also indicates that not many people turned out for the service. As for when Francis died, 2017 is the date marked on his gravestone. How he died is a larger mystery, although one that may not be that complicated to solve.

Given that Claire never pardoned her husband during her televised address and he had threatened to kill her if she did not, it could have been a kill-or-be-killed scenario and she had him assassinated. Since House of Cards is already putting its cards on the table by revealing that Frank will be dead in Season 6, it may not be a huge plotline. The threat of someone finding out that the current POTUS killed the previous POTUS, who also happened to be her husband, would make waves though.

It is surprising that House of Cards has gone ahead and showed its cards regarding Frank's fate, albeit not the full context surrounding it. Fans have a couple of months to wait before finding out whether the storyline surrounding his death plays heavily into the new season. As for the new teaser, given its brevity and that it seems to be cut into, it is theoretically possible that this video could be a scene that will be given larger context when Season 6 is released. Emphasis on theoretically.

The sixth and final season of House of Cards will premiere in its entirety Friday, November 2 on Netflix. For more on the show, check out its official site.
