Smallville's Michael Rosenbaum Reveals Why He Won't Be In The Arrow-verse's Crisis Crossover

Smallville Michael Rosenbaum The CW

As the Arrow-verse preps for its most ambitious mega-crossover to date, The CW has been arranging for cameos with stars of former DC shows to drive home the whole "Infinite Earths" part of this Crisis. The latest big get was Smallville star Tom Welling, who was rumored to appear alongside former co-star Michael Rosenbaum in the previous year's crossover. Well, we can stop the rumors regarding Rosenbaum appearing this year, as the Lex Luthor actor recently said he won't be appearing.

Fans have apparently been bugging Michael Rosenbaum about whether or not he'll appear in "Crisis on Infinite Earths," because the actor didn't wait long to let his Twitter followers know after giving The CW a no. Here's how the conversation between the two parties went according to the actor, and why Rosenbaum isn't interested.

Friends, many of you have tweeted and asked me about joining the Infinite Crossover. I can't tell you how much this means to me. I'll just be straight up about this. WB called my agents Friday afternoon when I was in Florida visiting my grandfather in a nursing home. Their offer: No Script. No idea what I'm doing. No idea when I'm shooting. Basically no money. And the real kick in the ass 'We have to know now.' My simple answer was 'Pass'. I think you can understand why. I hope this answers all of your questions.

Michael Rosenbaum explained that he was visiting his grandfather when the call came, which didn't seem to matter much because there wasn't much for The CW to relay. They had no details on what Rosenbaum would be doing, when he'd be needed, and the pay was apparently not what he was expecting. So, when the ultimatum came that he needed to commit one way or another, it was a hard no from the Smallville actor.

Rosenbaum gave a lot of reasons for turning down the Arrow-verse for a cameo, but did any reasons outweigh the others? We can only speculate, though it's worth mentioning the responses to the tweet that Michael Rosenbaum liked seemed to largely mention that he wasn't given any idea what they'd be doing with him before calling and asking for a commitment.

Is the door officially closed on Michael Rosenbaum appearing in the "Crisis On Infinite Earths" crossover? Well, the public blasting of the offer may not sit well with The CW, or they could see all the mistakes made in the first attempt to get the actor and make sure they have a plan and maybe a little more money to offer the next time around. If they can do that, fans may just see Rosenbaum (who does seem to enjoy the Arrow-verse) appear in the crossover later this year.
