Witcher, the highly-anticipated Netflix series that will see Henry Cavill take on an iconic game and book character (in a blonde wig to boot) is finally getting some real traction on the subscription streamer. In fact, today, Netflix dropped the full trailer for the new series, and surprise, it mentions the release date.

Yes, Witcher is finally coming and soon! The new project will be hitting audiences at home on December 20, 2019 – which means if you have some days off between Christmas and New Year’s Day, you’ll have plenty of time to binge to your heart’s content. But first, take a look at the new trailer below.

It's a pretty fun trailer, but of course it is worth noting this isn't the first look at Netflix's The Witcher. At Comic-Con in San Diego earlier this year fans were treated to a few full scenes -- including one featuring a dead baby. Then, Netflix released the first trailer for the series, which revealed more of its detail, plot and look.

Still, despite the shocking plotlines and Game of Thrones comparisons, a lot of the attention this series has gotten so far has had to do with Henry Cavill in the role and all the effort he has put into playing the popular character Geralt. Cavill wanted to learn to do his own stunts for the role (and the series let him), and has been dedicated to remaining super shredded post his last Superman gig in order to play the role.

The new look at the series dropped during Lucca Comics and Games convention in Lucca, Italy, and expands quite a bit beyond Henry Cavill's character getting into some swordplay, although there is still plenty of that. While action sequences before have been more focused, this trailer teases bigger battles and larger weaponry mechanisms. Still, Netflix has been pretty good about not giving the full plot of the series away, although fans of the bestselling novel series may recognize some of the material. Per usual for the streamer, all eight greenlighted episodes will drop at once.

Ultimately, big fantasy epics on streamers such as The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance or Carnival Row haven't been quite as buzzy as expected once they've hit the schedule. However, The Witcher will be coming when a lot of people will be or will nearly be off for the holidays. It's also coming during a lull in the TV schedule, so even people with traditional TV should have the time to devote to it. At least, that's what I assume Netflix is hoping for with this release date. To see when more Netflix content is dropping, take a look at our full schedule.
