It seems like the coronavirus’ impact on the entertainment industry – and the world as a whole – is growing by the day. Not only has the pandemic led to a number of delays in the film and TV spheres over the past few weeks, but it’s also led to a number of high-profile celebrity diagnoses. The latest to join this list is pop singer Pink and, now that she’s recovered, she’s hoping to lend a hand in combating the virus.

Pink revealed on Twitter that both she and her son tested positive for the coronavirus. Thankfully, the two were tested again a few days later and the results for both were negative. The singer provided a few details on what her and her family were up to when the initial diagnosis happened:

Two weeks ago my three-year old son, Jameson, and I were showing symptoms of COVID-19. Fortunately, our primary care physician had access to test and I tested positive. My family was already sheltering at home and continued to do so for the last two weeks following the instruction of our doctor. Just a few days ago we were re-tested and are now thankfully negative.

In her two-part letter, Pink also expressed disappointment with the lack of available tests for the public and revealed that she’s going to be making two massive donations, one of which is a tribute to someone very close to her:

In an effort to support the healthcare professionals who are battling on the frontlines every day, I am donating $500,00 to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia in honor of my mother, Judy Moore, who worked there for 18 yars in the Cardiomyopathy and Heart Transplant Center. Additionally, I am donating $500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.

Finally, Pink ended the message by thanking healthcare professionals and those seeking to help fight off the coronavirus pandemic.

The impact Pink’s donation will have goes without saying, but to see her give so much for this cause is heartwarming to see And she’s not the first celebrity to give money in the hopes of beating COVID-19. X-Men star James McAvoy donated over $300,000 to help buy protective gear for employees of the National Health Service. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees also committed to giving $5 million to the city of New Orleans to help with coronavirus recovery.

The coronavirus pandemic has absolutely created a period of uncertainty for a large part of the world, but it also seems to be bringing out the best in so many people. We can only hope this is a trend that catches on, as the world continues to deal with this virus.
