Are 90 Day Fiance's Andrei And Elizabeth Trying To Get A Spinoff?

Andrei Castravet 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After TLC

Warning! The following contains spoilers for recent episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. Read at your own risk!

It was recently revealed that TLC is eyeballing "one or two" spinoffs for 90 Day Fiancé and, given the wide variety of spinoffs already out there for the franchise, the mind tends to wander on what the new shows could be. There is no shortage of participants who could get a show, but are some gunning harder for a show than others?

I have to think so especially in the case of Elizabeth "Libby" Potthast Castravet and Andrei Castravet's recent story arc on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?. The two have dealt with some real drama this season as Elizabeth's family visited Moldova for the couple's "second wedding" and drilled Andrei's family for the reason why he left his home country. The family's bold line of questioning and aggressive behavior seems crazy until one thinks they may all be playing it up hoping to get their own family-centric spinoff.

I have no definitive evidence to prove this of course, but isn't it a bit weird Libby's family is looking to get to the bottom of Andrei's past ahead of a wedding that already happened? This Moldovan wedding does not further validate the couple's marriage in America and, if her family felt like this was a huge concern, why weren't these questions asked before the couple actually got married?

90 Day Fiancé viewers may be aware that Libby was at one point pursuing a career in acting. She had a role as an extra in a Homeland episode in 2011 and has appeared in some indie films as well. Reality television isn't quite the avenue most actors would like to start out in, but being a career reality television personality has worked out for a good number of people. With a spinoff focused on her married life with Andrei, Libby would not only be getting more screentime but potentially more money due to not having to share the screen with other 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? subjects.

On top of Libby's Hollywood connection, it's worth noting her mother Pamela Putnam works as a talent agent. As a talent agent, she could potentially have an ear for what TLC is looking for in terms of a spinoff and has helped facilitate some drama this season that, regardless of whether it makes sense, creates good television. Remember Andrei and Charlie's fight that wasn't an actual fight at all? What if that was something that literally only happened to keep the drama rolling and focus on the couple?

We may never know what's real or not with this show, but it does make a lot more sense that Libby's family would be leaning into the villain role and being outwardly offensive knowing their actions are being broadcast to the world. Take that in addition to the over-the-top build to some secret behind Andrei's leaving Moldova, it just seems a little too perfect that there's a story with a beginning middle and end for this couple this season. Obviously, we can't know for sure whether or not Andrei, Libby, and family are pushing to get selected for a spinoff, but it certainly seems like some dots are connecting to certainly make it a possibility.

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? airs on TLC Sundays at 8:00 p.m. ET. Continue to stick with CinemaBlend for more on the franchise, and for the latest news in television and movies.
