The View's Meghan McCain Shared A Heartfelt Post About Working With Whoopi Goldberg Despite Not Always Seeing Eye-To-Eye

Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain

Anyone who’s watched The View knows the daytime talk show covers some deep topics, which can lead emotions to run high among the hosts. Of the show’s current lineup, the two that tend to get into it the most would probably be Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain. It goes without saying that the two have had some pretty cringeworthy moments in the past, some of which have gone on to become viral clips. Nevertheless, there still seems to be plenty of respect among colleagues, as McCain recently paid tribute to Goldberg with a sentimental post.

Meghan McCain voiced her admiration for Whoopi Goldberg in an Instagram post and expressed how lucky she feels to get to work with Goldberg and the other women of The View:

Getting to work with a living icon like @whoopigoldberg every day is still such a privilege and totally surreal. Love you Whoop, thank you for your unending support, friendship and political perspective - I continue to learn from you every day. I’m so lucky to get to do what I do @theviewabc every day surrounded by such incredible women.

Even though the two don’t exactly see eye-to-eye, it’s great to see that Meghan McCain has respect for her colleague. McCain is currently out on maternity leave after giving birth to her first child and won’t be chatting with Whoopi Goldberg as much. So based on her post, you can imagine she’s looking forward to eventually getting back and mixing things up with her co-hosts. You can check out her original post down below:

Conflict among the hosts of The View has been a heavily discussed topic during the longtime show’s run, especially over the past few years. Because the hosts have different social and political experiences, it’s natural that they would clash with each other at times. Though Whoopi Goldberg has downplayed any “fighting” within the group, saying that they’re only doing what they get paid to do – discuss the issues of the day and give their opinions on them.

This still doesn’t mean that being a host on The View isn’t a difficult job. Candace Cameron Bure, who left the show to work on Netflix’s Fuller House, called being a host one of the hardest jobs she’s ever had. The TV personality does feel like she grew during her time on the show but, at the same time, she also felt as though she had to sometimes fight for her opinion to be heard.

Needless to say, being a host on The View isn’t a job for everyone and may require some patience from time to time. But if Meghan McCain’s tribute to Whoopi Goldberg is any indication, the hosts can find common ground when it’s all said and done.

The View airs daily at 11 p.m. ET on ABC.
