Why 90 Day Fiance's Paul And Karine Aren't In The Happily Ever After Tell-All

Paul Staehle 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After TLC

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? is into its tell-all episodes, where fans typically learn more information on the challenges the couples faced and where things have gone for the couple since the season's ending. Season 5's tell-all has gotten through its first part without Paul Staehle and Karine Martins, and fans want to know why. Now, we have an answer thanks to tell-all host Shaun Robinson, who shared why the couple aren't present for the additional episodes.

After completely ignoring the couple's absence in Part 1, Robinson spoke to Entertainment Tonight about why the two aren't featured in the tell-all. As fans may have guessed, the two's absence wasn't merely an oversight on the part of TLC:

Yeah, you know the situation between Paul and Karine is a very complicated and sensitive one, so when we were about to do the tell-all, their situation was very fresh, and so we wanted to give them the space to really work through that.

As 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? viewers saw in Season 5, Paul Staehle and Karine Martins had some real struggles in the move from Brazil to Louisville, Kentucky. Though the couple did visit Brazil towards the end of the season, they returned and allegedly had some real issues between them. Paul took to Instagram towards the beginning and said Karine was missing along with their son Pierre, and he didn't know where they had gone.

Not long after that, Karine posted a message on social media that she was safe and had left Paul for her and her son's safety. Paul later posted allegations made by Karine in a restraining order he received, which claimed physical abuse, rape, and withholding of important legal documents she needed. Paul denied the claims made and wondered if Karine had been coerced into making those statements or if they had been taken down without her knowledge.

Paul Staehle later responded with a restraining order of his own, in which he alleged Karine Martins tried to kill him by putting glass in his food. He also said friends of the family threatened him with violence as well, and the two had court dates set in which to determine custody of son Pierre and an unborn child.

Things recently took an interesting turn when it was revealed that both parties dropped their restraining orders against each other, and the court dates concerning them were removed from the docket. At this time, it's unclear as to whether or not this is the couple looking to fix their marriage or if they had reached terms for an amicable divorce. Paul recently traveled to Brazil in an effort to prepare the family's home there, so perhaps the couple decided on leaving America? We can only speculate, for now, and hope that whatever happens is for the best.
