Colin Jost Jokes About What He Really Wants From A Covid Wedding With Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost are still engaged, in case you were wondering. The MCU actress and her SNL “Weekend Update” host and writer beau have been fairly low-key during the pandemic, though Jost has worked throughout thanks to Saturday Night Live finding unique ways to connect with people at home. In a recent interview, however, the comedian shared some details about the wedding planning -- or the lack thereof -- given Covid is still rearing it’s ugly head.

In fact, by the latest stats the numbers hit over 60,000 daily cases in the U.S. recently again, but comedians are fond of joking about everything, even Covid weddings. During a recent episode of Ellen, here's what Colin Jost had to say about a Covid wedding with Scarlett Johansson:

What you want at a really small COVID wedding is you want a bunch of extra plus ones, hopefully they're flying in from across the country. It's a great setup, so.

I’m sure some people won’t have a sense of humor about this joke, while others have actually probably attended a Covid wedding in 2020 and maybe even brought a random plus one. The point is, the year is a wacky one, people need to make individual choices for themselves and Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson are still firmly in the no wedding camp. Though, from what Ellen is saying, she'd be happy to crash the wedding if and when it happens, also joking that she's someone who's good at "ruining things."

The couple has been engaged since 2019 and had seemingly planned a 2020 wedding prior to global events. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard a bit about the postponement. The couple said during quarantine that there were just too many questions and unknowns to move forward at that time, those his more recent comments to Ellen may be the first time his SNL partner Michael Che has been called out related to the impending nuptials.

[Che] plans to make a scene at most events. That's his general approach. That's part of why we've just been postponing it is we can see him getting ready for the wedding and we're like, 'Maybe we should wait another day. What I really want for Che is, I want to ask him to do an objection at the wedding. A lot of people do speeches, but I think it would be nice in that moment, so few people utilize that moment to object and I think he could do a really great objection.

I told you, comedians just can’t help themselves. Regardless, at some point Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson will be married, though we probably won’t hear about it until after the fact. The couple are notably private. Johansson’s not even on social media and Jost strives to keep his super business brand-related. So you’re more likely to catch a photo of him with Leslie Jones than one of him with his partner.

Eventually Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson will tie the knot -- his first marriage, her third -- though it'll likely be on a Covid-free day. For now, they seem in no rush, though if they want to keep making jokes at Micheal Che's expense in the meantime, I'm here for it. SNL already made its triumphant return on NBC as part of the fall TV schedule, so catch the two hosts in a more comedic forum live from New York on Saturday nights.
