Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise is beloved by fans for its consistent barrage of hilarious antics and wild things said by the ladies who headline it. Lisa Rinna asking who was snorting coke, Atlanta’s “strippergate,” anything that comes out of Karen Huger’s mouth… the list just goes on and on for why the franchise lives on after almost 15 years. Nicky Hilton, though, wasn’t as excited as fans about the announcement that her mom Kathy Hilton would be joining Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season. In fact, she was against the whole idea, but her opinion in that regard has apparently changed.

Following a little reassurance from her mom Kathy Hilton that she wasn’t about to become the next housewife in handcuffs or screaming matches, Nicky Hilton has since warmed to the idea of her family dipping toes into the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. While on The Drew Barrymore Show, Nicky Hilton said,

I'm not going to lie, I was not thrilled when I first heard about it. I watch the show, I love the show. I think it's hysterical. The drama, the fighting — it's a bit crazy. But she has assured me that she does not curse and she does not fight. So, I said, 'Okay, have fun!'

So far as we know from the Season 11 trailer for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Kathy Hilton is sticking to her word to Nicky Hilton that she isn’t going too crazy amidst the throes of reality television. It shows her merely showing off a sprawling $53 million mansion to the ladies, which had couture savant Sutton Stracke saying she “never felt so poor,” as well as talking to Kyle Richards about their estranged sister Kim changing her phone number.

But make no mistake, Kathy Hilton can’t avoid the drama of Real Housewives entirely. She’s on the sidelines as the ladies delve into Lisa Rinna’s daughter dating 37 year old Scott Disick (to which Kyle Richards commented that he’s “too damn old”) and Erika Jayne’s divorce and legal situation.

It’s really no wonder that Nicky Hilton was worried about her mom doing Real Housewives. The drama is always high, but this probably wouldn’t be too hard to handle for the notorious Hilton family. Kathy Hilton’s eldest daughter, OG influencer Paris Hilton, was in one of the first successful reality shows in The Simple Life alongside Nicole Richie. The hotel chain family is also incredibly close to the Kardashians. But it is not clear at this time if either Paris or Nicky Hilton will make an appearance on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Nicky Hilton did say to People that she heard from her brother Barron Hilton that Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was filming at their mom’s house for “a few weeks” and “he could hear shouting from his bedroom.” From the trailer, it sounds like he might have just heard Sutton Stracke.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was already halted mid-production due to a crew member testing positive for coronavirus last year. But it picked back up and promises a pleasant development in the franchise’s first Asian American housewife on Beverly Hills. It sounds like one hell of a season for Kathy Hilton to also join the club. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premieres on May 19 at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
