Community Season 5 Teaser Shows Greendale Pride

Because it’s not set to return until 2014, Community’s fifth season premiere seems like it’s much further away than it actually is. In truth, January 2 is less than a month away, which puts us in the weeks-to-go part of the countdown to the return of Greendale. The above teaser tells us as much, as it indicates that NBC’s ready to start reminding people that school is almost back in session!

The 20-second teaser doesn’t offer us much to go on for the Season 5 premiere, other than that the study room appears to be cluttered with stuff, Chang’s hiding in a box and the study group sounds like they’re bursting with school spirit. While we await further clues as to what’s ahead in the back-to-back episodes that will mark the start of Season 5, which debuts January 2 at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC, the Peacock did release some character photos, which show us the returning cast, including Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Gillian Jacobs, John Oliver, Ivette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong and Danny Pudi, we also get a look at Jonathan Banks. The Breaking Bad star joins Community to play Pat Nichols.

Kelly West
Assistant Managing Editor

Kelly put her life-long love of movies, TV and books to greater use when she joined CinemaBlend as a freelance TV news writer in 2006, and went on to serve as the site’s TV Editor before joining the staff full-time in 2011 and moving over to other roles at the site. At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way). She graduated from SUNY Cortland with BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Cinema Studies. When she isn't working, she's probably thinking about work, or reading (or listening to a book), and making sure her cats are living their absolute best feline lives.
