Chicago Fire is going to look pretty different when it returns on the 2026 TV schedule this fall for Season 15. The series is going through a lot of changes, both on-screen and off, with a few cast members leaving. On top of that, showrunner Andrea Newman is stepping down. There have been some good news to come out about the new season. And there is another reason to be pumped.
It’s no secret that the NBC drama has gone through a lot of exits in recent years. It’s a revolving door of exits on Chicago Fire. Unfortunately, those exits will continue. We know so far that Dermot Mulroney and Joe Miñoso are saying goodbye to Firehouse 51. After the Season 14 finale cliffhanger, who knows who else could be on the chopping block. At the very least, there still seem to be some reasons to be excited for Season 15. Jocelyn Hudon, who plays paramedic Lyla Novak, told E! News what will be in store for the new season, and I can’t wait:
We on Chicago Fire have a bunch of new probies [probational firefighters], so that is very exciting for us, and I know the audience is going to love them.
I am definitely looking forward to 51 getting some new probies and some new blood. You never know what to expect with these new firefighters, but it’s possible one or more could have the potential of staying on permanently. In recent years Chicago Fire hasn’t had the greatest track record when it comes to having someone new join the cast, as they’re usually out within a couple of years. But I’m intrigued as to what these new probies will bring to the firehouse.
Among the new firefighters at 51 will be BMF star Da’Vinchi, who has been cast as a new firefighter candidate named Marcus Burke. He’s reportedly roguish and funny, “with a wry sense of humor,” and “a little defiant.” It wouldn’t be Firehouse 51 without at least one rogue firefighter, so he will certainly be keeping his colleagues on their toes. We’ll likely be getting more information on who else will be joining Chicago Fire in the coming weeks, but the wait will be worth it.
Meanwhile, all these changes could not be coming at a more concerning time. As previously mentioned, Chicago Fire’s 14th season ended on a pretty big cliffhanger. Much of Truck 81, Engine 51, and Squad 3 were trapped on top of and in a building on fire as it was literally engulfed in flames. We don’t know who makes it out alive or what the aftermath will look like. Miñoso’s Joe Cruz was one of the firefighters trapped, and with the actor leaving, it may not be a good outcome. If anything, even if he doesn’t get killed off, whatever happens will likely play a part in how and why he leaves the firehouse.
Fans will just have to wait and see what happens when Season 15 of Chicago Fire premieres on Wednesday, October 7 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC, streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription. All 14 seasons of Chicago Fire are streaming on Peacock.
