New Daredevil Season 2 Trailer Is Ominous, Will Get You Fired Up
The new year is a time for clearing out bad habits and starting new resolutions, but it’s also time for a whole brand new lineup to hit our TVs. We’ve known Daredevil would premiere a little early this year, thanks to leaks a few weeks ago, but this week Netflix took the promos a step further and released the first trailer for Daredevil Season 2. You can give it a watch, below.
The dark and ominous tone of the trailer is in a lot of ways reminiscent to the first trailer for Season 6 Game of Thrones put out a few weeks ago. Odd images from Matt Murdock’s past play out on the screen while we get some voiceover narrative from the characters on the show. The trailer ends with glass breaking thanks to a new threat, and while it doesn’t reveal a lot, it is bone chilling and at the end we learn Daredevil Season 2 will officially hit the schedule on Friday, March 18.
In addition, Marvel and Netflix have released the official synopsis for Season 2, which focuses on the additions of The Punisher, who will be played by Jon Bernthal, and Elektra, who will be played by Elodie Yung.
We've known the Punisher and Elektra would be big draws for a while now, and we've even heard a little bit about how Frank Castle will be introduced on the series, so beyond the trailer none of this is super new news, although I find that part about a "life-altering choice" to be really intriguing. And if all of that isn't enough to tide you over before Daredevil Season 2 moves forward, the subscription streaming service also released a new poster for the upcoming episodes.
The trailer and premiere announcement comes just a few days after early reports indicated that Marvel and Netflix might cheekily decide to release Daredevil on the same day that DC and Warner Bros. have planned to release Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Obviously, those rumors haven't held up, and Daredevil will only have the usual TV superhero competition to face off against when it hits the schedule on Friday, March 18 at 12:01 a.m. PT. In addition to the big Daredevil release announcement, you can check out when the rest of your favorites will be returning with our midseason TV premiere schedule.
